Stephen Sackett, son of John Sackett and Mary Taylor, was baptized at St John's Church, Margate, Kent, on 29 October 1699.1 He died aged 86 in Margate on 3 January 1786.2 He was buried at St John's Church on 11 January 1786.3,2 He married at St John's Church on 17 November 1723, Elizabeth Gyles.4 She was buried at St John's Church on 5 May 1736.5 Although his wife Elizabeth died at a young age, leaving Stephen with two daughters to bring up, it would not appear that he remarried. He survived his wife by some 50 years.
     Stephen was named as a beneficiary in his brother John's will made in St Peter in Thanet on 29 November 1756.6 He was left a sum of £20.
