John Sackett

John Sackett, whose parents have not been identified, was born, presumably in Thanet, Kent, in say 1615. He died shortly before the birth of his son Henry and was buried at St John's Church, Margate, Kent, on 2 May 1643.¹ He married before 1641, Elizabeth ___.
     It has not yet proved possible to identify this John Sackett beyond the data found in the baptism record of his son Henry. Of the possible candidates for identification with this John, John Sackett born in 1586, the son Thomas Sackett and Martha Strowde, and John Sackett born in 1594, the son of George Sackett and Katherine Tompson, are dismissed as being too old. Although there is a better age match, he was also not the same man as John Sackett baptized in February 1607/08, the son of William Sackett and Joan Parker, as that John Sackett is shown to have been still living at the date of his brother Robert's will in 1658.
