Elijah Gibson Sackett, son of Guy Sackett and Sarah Dunkan, was born in Pennsylvania in June 1809.1,2 He died on 5 July 1881.1 He married in 1824, Malinda Lee, daughter of William Lee and Prescilla Aldridge.1,3 Malinda was born in New York in about 1810.2
     In 1880 Elijah was living at Grove, Adair County, Iowa, and was recorded in the census as Elijah J Sackett, head of household, a farmer, aged 71, and born in Pennsylvania. Living with him were his wife Melinda, aged 70, and his granddaughter Nancy A Duncan, aged 13.2
