Thomas Sackett, son of Thomas Sackett and Mary Ann Stanner, was born in Ramsgate, Kent, on 30 July 18481,2 and baptized at St George's Church, Ramsgate, on 27 August 1848.3 He died in Thanet on 1 August 19232,4 and was buried at Margate, Kent, on 4 August 1923.5 He married at Holy Trinity, Margate, on 6 August 1871, Harriet Maria (Simpson) Craycraft, daughter of Benjamin Simpson and Eliza Craycraft.6,7,8 Harriet was born in Ramsgate on 1 May 1848.2 She died aged 75 in Margate on 25 June 1923.2,9 She was buried there on 29 June 1923.10
     In 1851 Thomas was living at King Street, St John's, Margate, Kent, and was recorded in the census as Thomas Sackett, aged two and born in Ramsgate, son of Thomas Sackett.11
     In 1861 he was living at 28 King Street, Margate, Kent, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, a scholar, aged 13 and born in Ramsgate, son of Thomas Sackett.12
     In 1871 he was living at 70 King Street, Margate, Kent, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, a gas fitter, unmarried, aged 22 and born in Ramsgate, son of Thomas Sackett.13
     In 1881 he was living at 6 Linfield Cottages, Faversham, Kent, and was recorded as Thomas Sacket, a gas fitter, head of household, married, aged 32 and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Harriet, aged 31 and also born in Ramsgate, and their children George (8), Thomas (7), John (5), Elizabeth (3), and Alma (1).14
     In 1891 he was living at 14 Kingsnorth Road, Faversham, Kent, and was recorded as Thomas Sackett, head of household, a gas fitter (lock), aged 42 and born in Ramsgate, Kent. The other members of his household were his wife Harriet, aged 41 and also born in Ramsgate, and his children, George (18), Thomas (17), John (15), Elizabeth (13), Alma (11), Harriet (9), William (6), Kate (4), and Lily aged 6 months.15
     In 1901 he was living at 5 Gladstone Road, St John's, Margate, Kent, and was recorded as Thos Sackett, head of household, a railway luggage porter, aged 52 and born in Margate [actually Ramsgate]. The other members of his household were his wife Harriet M, aged 51 and born in Margate, his daughter Kate M, aged 14, and his granddaughter, Alma E Sackett, aged seven months.16
