Richard Sackett, son of Robert George Sackett and Judith Fegen, was born in Ramsgate, Kent, in 18441 and baptized at St George's Church, Ramsgate, on 6 April 1845.2 He died aged 40 in Thanet, Kent, in 1885.3 He married in Thanet in 1865, Sarah Bristow.4 After Richard's death, Sarah married second in St Paul's Church, Ramsgate on 14 September 1890, James Richard Hunter.5
In 1851 Richard was living at 12 York Street, Ramsgate, Kent, and was recorded in the census as Richard Sackett, a scholar, aged 6 and born in Ramsgate, son of Robert G Sackett.6
In 1861 he was living at 3 Leopold Street, Ramsgate, Kent, in the household of his parents Robert and Judith, and was recorded as Richard Sackett, a labourer, aged 16, and born in Ramsgate.7
In 1871 he was living at 7 Leopold Street, Ramsgate, Kent, and was recorded as Richard Sackett, a boatman, head of household, married, aged 24, and born in Ramsgate. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 23, and born in Minster, Kent, and their children, Walter (5), Frances (2), and Edward (5 months).8
In 1891 Richard's widow Sarah was living at 7 Turner Street, Ramsgate, Kent, in the household of her second husband James Hunter, a general labourer, and was recorded in the census as Sarah Hunter, aged 45, and born in Minster. Living with them were Sarah's children, Frances Sackett (23), Edward Sackett (20), Amy Sackett (15), and Margaret M Sackett, and granddaughter Albina Sackett, aged four months.9
In 1851 Richard was living at 12 York Street, Ramsgate, Kent, and was recorded in the census as Richard Sackett, a scholar, aged 6 and born in Ramsgate, son of Robert G Sackett.6
