George Holt Sackett, butcher of Ramsgate, Kent, son of Francis Sackett and Hannah Jarman, was born in St Peter in Thanet, Kent, in 18351 and baptized at St Peter's Church on 28 June 1835.1 He died aged 89 in Dover, Kent, in 1924.2 He married in Thanet in 1893, ___ ___.3
     In 1841 George was living at Hereson Road, St Lawrence, Kent, in the household of his parents Francis and Hannah, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, aged six and born in Kent.4
     In 1851 he was living at 2 Harbour Street, Broadstairs, Kent, and was recorded as George H Sackett, a shopman, aged 15 and born in St Peter's, son of Francis Sackett.5
     In 1861 he was living at 11 St James Place, Ramsgate, Kent, and was recorded as George H Sackett, a butcher, unmarried, aged 24, and born in Broadstairs, Kent. He was a boarder in the household of James Ovenden, a mariner.6
     In 1881 he was living at 10 Addington Street, Ramsgate, in the household of Mary Ann Curtis, a pork butcher, and was recorded as George Sackett, a butcher's foreman, a lodger, unmarried, aged 44, and born in St Peter's.7
