Sarah Vanhear Pay, daughter of John Pay and Hannah Sackett, was baptized at St Peter's Church, Thanet, Kent, on 19 October 1834.2
     In 1841 Sarah was living at St Peter in Thanet, Kent, in the household of her parents James and Hannah, and was recorded in the census as Sarah Pay, aged six and born in Kent.3
     In 1861 she was living at 18 John Street, Ramsgate, Kent, in the household of her widowed father James [or John?] Pay, and was recorded as Sarah F Pay, a milliner, unmarried, aged 26, and born in St Peter's.4
