John Henry Sackett, son of John Sackett and Maria Ann Bates, was born in Eastry, Kent, in December 1848.1 He died aged 42 in Pancras, London, in 1890.2 He married at Christ Church, Southwark, Surrey, on 15 March 1875, Martha Jane Gratton, daughter of George Gratton.3,4 Martha was born in about 18555 and died aged 43 in Pancras in 1899.6
     John was named as a beneficiary in his father's will made in Sandwich, Kent, on 6 February 1880. He was left a sum of £2,000 less an advance of £100 already paid.7
     In 1861 John was living at Mote Hole, St Peter's, Sandwich, Kent, in the household of his parents John and sarah., and was recorded in the census as John Henry Sackett, a scholar, aged 10, and born in Canterbury.8
