Charles William Sackett, son of Samuel Henry Sackett and Emma Roberts, was born in Neate Street, Camberwell, Surrey, on 31 December 1869.1 He was registered as Charles Alfred but was later known as Charles William. He died in Camberwell in 1925.2 He married in Camberwell in 1896, Rose G Brooker.3 Charles was a gas company employee.
In 1871 Charles was living at 23 Grange Road, St Mary Magdalen, Bermondsey, Surrey, in the household of his grandfather Henry Sackett, a fellmonger, and was recorded in the census as Charles Sackett, aged 17 [probably a transcription error for "1y"], and born in Peckham, Surrey.4
In 1881 he was living at 29 Pages Walk, Bermondsey, Surrey, in the household of his grandparents Henry and Martha Sackett, and was recorded as Chas. W. Sackett, a scholar, aged 11, and born in Camberwell, Surrey.5
In 1891 he was living at 70 Upper Grange Road, Bermondsey, Surrey, in the household of his grandmother Martha Sackett, and was recorded as Charles Sackett, a traveller, single, aged 21, and born in Camberwell.6
