Leonard Austen, of Woodnesborough near Sandwich, Kent,, son of Valentine Austen and Helen Sackett, was born in Kent in say 1610.
Leonard was named as a beneficiary in his uncle Robert's will made in St John in Thanet on 16 February 1660. Leonard was described in the will as "of Woodnesborough near Sandwich". He was made executor and was to inherit four small tenements & stables at Margate, eight acres of arable land at Bacon Dane now occupied by John Willson and, after bequests to other family members, was to take the residue of the estate.1
