George Langdale Sackett, son of Frederick Sackett and Florence Langdale, was born at Les Sauvagees, St Sampson's, Guernsey, on 2 December 1897.1 He died aged 20 in France on 24 December 1917.2,3 He was buried in the Heudicourt Cemetery, Somme.2
     In 1901 George was living at Sauvagees, St Sampson's, Guernsey, and was recorded in the census as George Sackett, aged 3 and born in St Sampson's, the son of Frederick Sackett.4
     George enlisted in the First World War in the East Yorkshire Regiment, serving as a Lance Corporal. He was killed in action on the Somme.
