George Young Sackett, son of Jabez Sackett and Sarah Anne Young, was born in Waltham, Caistor, Lincolnshire, on 13 May 1875.1,2 He married in Sculcoates, Yorkshire, in 1898, Kate Garner.3 She was born in Garthorpe, Lincolnshire, in about 1874.4
In 1881 George was living at North Gate, Walkington, Yorkshire, and was recorded in the census as George Y Sackett, a scholar, aged 5 and born at Waltham, Lincoln, son of Jabez Sackett.5
In 1891 he was living at 43 Paisley Street, Newington, Sculcoates, West Hull, Yorkshire, in the household of his mother Sarah., and was recorded as George Y Sackett, a fire engine cleaner, aged 16, and born in Waltham.6
In 1901 he was living at 11 Pulman Street, Sculcoates, Kingston upon Hull, and was recorded as G Sackett, a loco engine fireman, head of household, married, aged 25 and born in Waltham, Gt Grimsby, Lincolnshire. Living with him was his wife, listed as K Sackett, aged 26 and born in Garthorpe.7
