About Nancy:
Born in southern Ohio, Nancy has lived in Roswell, NM for nearly 15 years. Nancy has worked in the computer field for 25 years; mostly in educational institutions both in Ohio and New Mexico. For twenty of those years, she’s worked with her husband, Bill. Nancy, along with Bill, raised three children (presently, a Wildlife Biologist, a Principal Financial Analyst and a Physics PhD Professor) before beginning her college education. Nancy grew up on a traditional type farm in Highland County, Ohio. While other teens across the US played sports, Nancy slopped hogs, gathered eggs, handmilked cows, cleaned the hen house with a shovel, and swatted flies hoeing the garden.
Although she had been doing genealogy research since 1967, Nancy’s hobby exploded with the capabilities of the Internet in 1995. She collected correspondents rapidly and in 1996, she created the COUNTRYMAN-L Mailing List to manage her large distribution list easier. Little did she know that she had created a routine that would be hard to break. In 1997, she created the SACKETT-L list; the LETSON-L list in 1998, the SIDERS-L list in 2000 and the MCKAY-ELKENNY-L in January of 2003.
She attributes the success of SACKETT-L as much to the founding subscribers as to herself in doing the actual work. They have been her invaluable support network.
Nancy also enjoys reading mysteries, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, bird watching, hiking and gardening (especially herbs). Her major interest of late is playing with her five grandchildren located in Ohio, Utah and Florida.
