John Sackett, son of Justus Sackett and Anna Lyon, was born in Greenwich, Fairfield County, ConnecticutG, on 24 May 1784.1,2,3,4 He died there aged 79 on 14 February 18641,3 and was buried at the Second Congregational Church Cemetery, GreenwichG.3,5 He married first at the Second Congregational Church, GreenwichG, on 12 July 1809, Mary Mead, daughter of Whitman Mead and Rachel Mead.1,6 Mary was born on 14 February 1789.7,4 She died aged 35 in GreenwichG on 24 August 18247 and was buried at the Second Congregational Church CemeteryG.7,8 He married second in GreenwichG on 9 January 1829, Cornelia Olmstead, daughter of Daniel Olmstead.9,10 Cornelia was born in ConnecticutG in about 1812.11
     John was listed in the census in 1830 and 1840 as a householder in GreenwichG.12,13
     In 1850 John was living in GreenwichG and was recorded in the census as John Sackett, aged 62. Living with him were his wife Cornelia, 41, and their children, Oscar, 18, Julia, 16, Eleanor, 14, Whitman, 11, John, 7, Reubenette, 5, and Charles, aged one.14
     In 1860 he was living in GreenwichG and was recorded as John Sackett, aged 76. Living with him were his wife Cornelia, 48, and their children, Whitman, 22, John, 18, Reubenette, 15, and Charles, aged twelve.15
