Captain Benjamin Sackett, son of John Sackett MD and ___ ___, was born in Dover, New York StateG, in 1752.1,2 He died aged 72 in Stephentown, Rensselaer County, New York StateG, on 28 June 18261 and was buried at the Presbyterian Cemetery, StephentownG.2,3 He married in Amenia, Dutchess County, New York StateG, on 11 November 1773, Phebe Davis.1,2,4 Phebe was born in about 1754.5 She died aged 71 in StephentownG on 12 October 1826 and was buried at the Presbyterian Cemetery, StephentownG.6,7
     Benjamin served as a private in the American Revolutionary War. He was a Captain of New York State Militia after the war.1,8
     Benjamin was listed in the census in 1800, 1810 and 1820 as a householder in StephentownG.9,10,11
     Captain Benjamin's house in Stephentown was mentioned in George Holcomb's Diary on 24 May 1819. The Stephentown diarist's next entry for Captain Benjamin was to record his death on 28 June 1826: "Old Capt. Benjamin Sackett died. Funeral the next day, Mr. Hendrick preached at Presbyterian meetinghouse."3,12

716. Capt. Benjamin Sackett, 1752–1826, of Stephentown, in what is now Rensselaer County, N. Y., son of (268) John Sackett, M. D., was married Nov. 11, 1773, to Phebe Davis. He was an active participant in the war of the Revolution and is credited with service under Colonels Whitney, Harper, and Van Rensselaer. He also served the State as Captain of Militia for several years after close of war.
