William Sackett, farmer of Orsett, Essex, son of Henry Sackett and Martha Higgs, was baptized at Hornchurch, EssexG, on 23 April 1769.1 He died aged about 50 in OrsettG on 25 April 1819 and was buried at St Giles and All Saints, OrsettG.2,3 He married in Walthamstow, EssexG, in 1795, Catherine Sargeant.4 Catherine was born in Binfield, BerkshireG, in about 1770. She died aged 84 in OrsettG on 30 April 18555,6 and was buried at St Giles and All Saints, OrsettG, on 7 May 1855.2,7
     Administration of William's estate was granted on 3 June 1819 to his widow Catherine.8
     In 1841 William's widow was living in Orsett, EssexG, and was recorded in the census as Catherine Sackett, of independent means, aged 70 and born in Essex. Living with her was her unmarried daughter Martha Ann, aged 35.9
     In 1851 she was living in Orsett, EssexG, and was recorded as Catherine Sackett, head of household, a widow, aged 80, and born in Binfield, Berkshire. Living with her was her unmarried daughter Martha, 45, a schoolmistress. Also in the household were three schoolchildren, and two female servants.10
