Lieutenant David Sacket, son of Isaac Sacket and Elizabeth Shepard, was born in Westfield, Hampden County, MassachusettsG, on 19 August 17431,2,3 and baptized at the Church of Christ, WestfieldG, on 5 February 1744.4 He died aged 94 in Denmark, Ashtabula County, OhioG, on 6 June 1838.2,5 He married in WestfieldG on 23 April 1773, Lucretia Shepard, daughter of Lieut John Shepard and Elisabeth Sacket.2,6,7,8,9 David and Lucretia were second cousins once removed.
     David Sacket served during the American Revolutionary War with Massachusetts State troops, seeing action in numerous battles, including Bunker Hill and Trenton.10
     In 1790 David was living in Blandford, Hampshire County, MassachusettsG. In his household were one white male (16+), two white males under 16, five white females, and one other free person.11 He was listed as a householder there in 1810.12 He was listed in the census in 1820 and 1830 as a householder in Denmark, OhioG.13,14
     David was assessed for tax in Denmark TownshipG from 1822 to 1838. He occupied 50 acres from 1822 to 1825, 130 acres from 1826 to 1834, 30 acres in 1835 and 1836, then 45 acres in 1837 and 1838. Numbers of taxable livestock varied, up to four horses and eleven cattle in 1834.15,16

182. Ensign David Sacket, 1743–1838, of Westfield, Mass., and later of Ohio, son of (39) Isaac and Elisabeth Shepard Sacket, was married to Lucretia Shepard. His record in the War of the Revolution reads:
Sacket, David, Westfield, Ensign Capt. Malcomb Henry's Co., Col. David Brewer's (9th) Regt. Company return dated Oct. 7, 1775. Also recommended in Committee of Safety at Cambridge June 17, 1775, that said officer be commissioned by Congress. Also Ensign Capt. Malcomb Henry's Co., David Brewer's Regt., muster roll dated Aug. 1, 1771 [sic]; engaged Aug. 9, 1775; service 2 mos. 3 weeks, 6 days.
