Joseph Carl Saegert/Sackett, son of Heinrich Saegert (Henry Sackett) and Dorothea Loeper, was born in GermanyG on 17 July 1854.1 He married first in about 1880, Wilhelmina Burmeister.1 Wilhelmina was born in GermanyG in 1863.1 She died aged 25 in January 1888.1 He married second in about 1890, Minnie Behrens.1 Minnie was born in August 1870.1 She died in 1908.1
In 1892 Joseph was living in Mendon, Monroe County, New York StateG, and was recorded in the census as Joseph Sackett, a farmer, aged 38 and born in Germany. Living with him were his second wife, Minnie, 22, and his children, Frank, 12, and Ida, 8, from his first marriage. His brother Fred was living next door and their father Henry was living nearby.2
