Frederick A. Brinsmade.
The body of Frederick A. Brinsmade was laid to rest in the cemetery on the Green, Wednesday morning, having been brought here from Grand Rapids, Mich., where he died January 21. Rev Robert Carter officiated at the grave. Mr Brinsmade is well known to the older generation, having been born here in 1824, being the younger son of Daniel Eliot Brinsmade. His entire life up to 1886 was spent in this town. He then removed to Springfield, Mass., where he resided until he went west. Despite his advanced age, Mr Brinsmade maintained remarkable physical and mental vigor, which enabled him to transact business unaided up to three days of his death, when he came down with an attack of pneumonia from which death quickly resulted. Mr Brinsmade was twice married. His first wife was Mrs Marilla Hine Sackett, to whom he was married September 10, 1873. She died December 5, 1880. His second wife was Miss Catharine Whittlesey, to whom he was united in marriage, October 14, 1882, and who died March 25, 1897. The deceased is survived by one son, Herman Hine Brinsmade, who graduated from Cornell university in 1902 and who is now telegraph editor of the Grand Rapids Evening Press, Grand Rapids, Mich., with whom be made his home. Mrs E. L. Randall of Washington, Mrs Clara A. Pond of New Haven and Mrs E.
H. Langley of Toronto are stepdaughters.
