Jeremiah Sackett, miller, missioner, and social worker, of Barham, Kent, son of Benjamin Sackett Cox and Mary Ann Cooper, was born in 1836. He was baptized at St Leonard's Wesleyan Church, Hyde, KentG, on 6 February 1837.1 He died in Tideswell, DerbyshireG, on 14 February 19182,3 and was buried at Cheetham Hill Wesleyan Cemetery, Manchester, LancashireG, on 19 February 1918.4 He married first at Elham, KentG, on 12 August 1861, Sarah File.5 Sarah was born in Elizabeth Town, New JerseyG, in 1838.6 She died aged 57 in Prestwich, LancashireG,7 and was buried at Cheetham Hill Wesleyan CemeteryG on 14 August 1896.8 He married second in about 1898, Ann Elizabeth File. She died aged 74 at 9 Trafford Place, Old Trafford, Stretford, LancashireG, on 14 October 19169,10 and was buried at Cheetham Hill Wesleyan CemeteryG on 17 October 1916.11
     In 1841 Jeremiah was living at Slade Street, St Leonard, Hythe, KentG, in the household of his parents Benjamin and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Jeremiah Sackett, aged five and born in Kent.12
     In 1851 he was living at 30 Slade Street, Hythe, KentG, and was recorded as Jeremiah Sackett, an errand boy, aged 14 and born in Hythe, son of Benjamin Sackett.13
     In 1861 he was living at 3 Breach Down, Barham, KentG, and was recorded as Jeremiah Sackett, aged 24, unmarried and born in Hythe, servant, miller & baker, in the household of Susanna File. Also in the household was Susanna's eighteen-year-old daughter Ann who was to become Jeremiah's second wife.14
     In 1871 he was living at Townland Green, Woodchurch, KentG, and was recorded as Jeremiah Sackett, a carrier, head of household, married, aged 34 and born in Hythe. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 32 and born in Elizabeth Town, New Jersey, America, and their children, Alfred, 8, George, 7, Walter, 6, Susannah, 4, Sarah, 3, Leonard, 2, and Bertha, aged ten months. Also in the household was George B File, a visitor.15
     In 1891 he was living at 23 Bent Street, Cheetham, Manchester, LancashireG, and was recorded as Jeremiah Sackett, a local preacher (employed), head of household, married, aged 54, and born in Hythe, Kent. Living with him were his wife Sarah, aged 52, and born in New Jersey, and their children, Sarah, 23, and Frank, aged 14.16
     In 1895 Jeremiah was a missionary, living at 27 Bent Street, ManchesterG.17
     In 1911 he was living at 9 Trafford Place, Old Trafford, Manchester, LancashireG, and was recorded as Jeremiah Sackett, a Wesleyan Home Missioner working for the Manchester Mission, head of household, aged 74 and born in Hythe. Living with him was his wife Ann, aged 68. Also in the household was a female domestic servant.18

     Jeremiah proved his wife Ann's will in Manchester, LancashireG, on 1 December 1916. Her estate was valued at £735.19
     Jeremiah left a will which was proved on 13 March 1918 by his son Walter. His estate was valued at £1,496.20
