John Edward Sackett, sometimes known as Edward, son of Richard John Sackett and Alma Horwood, was born in West Ham, EssexG, on 2 May 19121 and baptized at Harrow Green, EssexG, on 5 June 1912.2 He died aged 88 in Waltham Forest, LondonG, in August 2000.3
     In 1921 Edward was living at 56 Holloway Road, Leytonstone, LondonG, in the household of his parents Richard and Alma, and was recorded in the census as Edward Sackett, aged nine and born in Leytonstone.4
     John joined the Amalgamated Society of Woodworkers at Forest Gate, LondonG, on 3 September 1929.5
     At the outbreak of the Second World War in September 1939, John was a carpenter, living at 56 Holloway Road, Leyton, EssexG, with his parents Richard and Alma.6
