Mary Jane Sackett, daughter of John Kemp Sackett and Mary Ann Doe, was born in Mile End, MiddlesexG, in 1868.2 She married in about 1888, Thomas Wood.3,4 Thomas was born in Stratford, LondonG, in about 1867.1
     In 1871 Mary was living at Union Street, Stratford, West Ham, EssexG, in the household of her parents John and Mary, and was recorded in the census as Jane Sackett, aged three and born in Mile End, Middlesex.5
     In 1881 she was living at 1 Park Place, Stratford, West Ham, EssexG, in the household of her widowed mother Mary, and was recorded as Mary Jane Sackett, a jute shifter, aged 13 and born in Middlesex.6
     In 1901 Mary was living at 36 Bessborough Road, East Ham, EssexG, in the household of her husband Thomas, 33, a general labourer, and was recorded in the census as Mary Wood, aged 32, and born in Mile End, London. Living with them were their children, Thomas, 11, Jane, 8, John, 6, Frank, 4, and Ernest, aged one. Also in the household were Mary's widowed mother Mary Sackett, 52, and Mary's married sister Emily Bright.7
