Charlie Rufus Sackett, carpenter, son of Elisha Winrow Sackett and Bertha Esther Griffin, was born in Liberty, Montgomery County, KansasG, on 5 January 1894.1,2 He died aged 89 on 26 June 19833 and was buried at Ryan Cemetery, Tarkington Prairie, Liberty County, TexasG.4 He married in about 1915, Ida Ruby Hornbeck.5,6 Ida was born in TexasG in about 1899.6
In 1900 Charlie was living in Township 24, Cherokee Nation, Indian TerritoryG, in the household of his parents Elisha and Esther, and was recorded in the census as Charley Sackett, aged six and born in Kansas.7
In 1910 he was living in Liberty, TexasG, in the household of his parents Elisha and Esther, and was recorded as Charlie Sackett, aged 16.8
Charlie completed a World War I draft registration card on 5 June 1917. He was then aged 24 and was a self-employed farmer, living with his wife in Dayton, Liberty County, TexasG.9
In 1920 he was living in Liberty, TexasG, and was recorded as Charles Sackett, a farmer, head of household, aged 27. Living with him were his wife Ida, 20, and their children, Ruby, 3, and Charley, aged less than a year.10 Charlie was enumerated twice in the 1920 census, also being listed in his parents' household.11
In 1930 he was living at East Avenue, Houston, Harris County, TexasG, and was recorded as Charles R Sackett, a carpenter, head of household, aged 36. He rented his home. Living with him were his wife Ida, 30, and their children, Ruby, 12, Charles, 10, John, 8, and Jewel Lucinda, aged six.12
