Edith attended Columbia College, New York CityG, in 1896 and 1897. She was on the editorial board of several college magazines.4
In 1900 Edith was living at Madison Avenue, New York CityG, in the household of her parents Augustine and Charlotte, and was recorded in the census as Edith R Sackett, aged 24 and born in New York.5
Edith applied for a passport on 24 January 1910, intending to travel abroad temporarily.6
In 1910 she was living at Madison Avenue, New York CityG, in the household of her parents Augustine and Charlotte, and was recorded as Edith R Sackett, aged 34.7
In 1920 she was living at Madison Avenue, New York CityG, in the household of her widowed mother Charlotte, and was recorded as Edith R Sackett, aged 44.8
Edith visited Europe in 1928, returning to New York City from Antwerp, BelgiumG, on 9 September 1928 on the SS Lapland. Her nephews, George Miles, 19, and Sackett Miles, 13, sons of her sister Margaret, accompanied her.9
In 1930 she was living at Pinehurst Avenue, New York CityG, and was recorded as Edith R Sackett, head of household, single, aged 54. She owned her home.10
She made several further visits to Europe during the 1930s, returning to New York from Le Havre, FranceG, on 14 June 1930 on the SS De Grasse, and again on 31 October 1932, on the SS Pennland.11,12 She returned to New York from Cherbourg, FranceG, on 11 August 1933 on the SS Aquitania." Her address in this record was originally written as Warren, Connecticut, then deleted and replaced by her usual New York City address of 174 Pinehurst Avenue. This suggests she was in the process of removing from New York to Warren at about this time.13
Edith was a member of the Congregational Church in Warren and, for at least fifteen years from 1937, was chairman of the Restoration Committee.14
She visited Italy in 1938, returning to New York from Genoa on 25 August 1938 on the SS Roma. Her residential address was now the "Sackett Homestead", Warren.15
