Helen M "Ella" Sackett, daughter of Eleazer Curtis Sackett and Patty Sackett, was born in OhioG on 17 July 1846.1,2 She died aged 78 in Kansas CityG on 3 July 19253 and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery, Kansas CityG.4 She married at Macon County, IllinoisG, on 13 April 1870, William B Garlick, son of James Garlick and Mary Platt.1,5 William was born in IllinoisG in July 1839.2 He died in Kansas CityG on 1 April 1935 and was buried at Oak Grove CemeteryG.4
     In 1860 Ella was living in Beardstown, Cass County, IllinoisG, in the household of her parents Eleazer and Patty, and was recorded in the census as Ella M Sackett, aged twelve and born in Ohio.6
     In 1870 she was living in Wyandotte, KansasG, in the household of her husband William B Garlick, 31, a brick mason, and was recorded as Ella M Garlick, aged 24. Also in the household was William's mother Mary, aged 73.7
     In 1880 she was living in WyandotteG in the household of her husband William Garlick, 41, a brick layer, and was recorded as Hellen Garlick, aged 34. Living with them were their daughter Flora, 9, and Helen's unmarried sister Flora Sackett, 37.8
     In 1885 she was living in Wyandotte County, KansasG, in the household of her husband William Garlick, 45, a brick mason, and was recorded as Ella S Garlick, aged 38. Living with them were their children, Flora, 14, and Mary, aged two. Also in the household were Ella's parents, Eleazer, 83, and Patty, 81, and Ella's unmarried sister, Flora, 40.9
     In 1900 she was living in Kansas CityG in the household of her husband William, aged 60, and was recorded as Ella S Garlick, aged 53. Their daughter Mary, 17, was living with them. Ella's sister Flora, 55, was a boarder in the household.10
     In 1910 she was living at Everett Avenue, Kansas CityG, in the household of her husband William, 70, an officer at the Board of Industry, and was recorded as Ella S Garlick, aged 63. Living with them were their daughter Mary, 27, and Ella's sister Flora Sackett, aged 65.11
     In 1920 she was living at North Sixth Street, Kansas CityG, in the household of her husband William, 80, a Government meat inspector, and was recorded as Ella S Garlick, aged 73. Living with them were their children, Flora Helwig, 40, and Mary Garlick, 30, Flora's son, Fernand Helwig, 21, and Ella's sister Flora Sackett, 75. There were also two female roomers in the household.12

3847. Helen M. Sackett, 1846–, daughter of (1514) Eleazer Curtis Sackett and his wife (1524) Patty Sackett, was married, Apr. 13, 1870, to William B. Garlick, son of James Garlick and his wife Mary Platt. They resided in 1907 at Garden City, Kansas.

Mrs. Ella S. Garlick Dies.
Pioneer Had Lived in Kansas for Fifty-Five Years.
     Mrs. Ella S. Garlick, one of the early pioneers of Wyandotte County, died at her home, 1410 North Sixth street, Kansas City, Kas. Mrs. Garlick was 79 years old. She and her husband, William B. Garlick came from Illinois to Kansas fifty-five years ago.
     Mrs. Garlick was one of the first members of the First Congregational church, Sixth street and Everett avenue and was very prominent in the church work.
     She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Mrs. O. L. Helwig and Miss Mary Garlick all of the home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 o'clock Monday morning at the home; burial at Oak Grove cemetery.
