Martha Sackett, daughter of John Sackett of St Nicholas at Wade and Joane ___, was born before 1570.1 She married before 1588, John Foorde.2 She was named as a beneficiary in her father's will (an unknown value) made in 1588 St Nicholas at Wade, Thanet.2
Martha was to receive a fresh and salt marsh at Chambers Wall in St Nicholas, and two young heifers – an apparently poor inheritance from her well-to-do father. However, she had apparently 'married well' as it is revealed in her father's will that he owed Martha's husband £60 (a sum worth more than £10,000 in today's money). Her husband was to receive from his father-in-law's estate a further £60 in addition to the £60 owed.
